Currently Reading: The Best American Nonrequired Reading 2003


I am reading a Dave Eggers compilation of short stories. One story originally published in The Atlantic offers great insight on Saddam Hussain.

I know most liberals were against the war in Iraq but I was the rare liberal who supported it. True, we invaded under the guise of finding WMDs which was whack because surprise! there weren't any. But I always thought we should take him out especially after what he did to the Kurds in 1988 (which I didn't really learn about until my class on the Middle East, because um I was 4 when it actually happened).

The article provides interesting cultural insights on potential reasons for why he was such an asshole. Def worth a read if you are interesting in this sort of thing.
